Community of NLR Notables Rallies Behind Wildcat Foundation for Annual Golf Tournament

The Wildcat Foundation’s annual golf tournament teed off with a strong showing this past Saturday, drawing 180 golfers and setting the stage for what could be a record-breaking fundraising year. Held for over two decades, the event was renamed three years ago as the Becky Witcher Memorial Scramble, honoring the Foundation’s longtime tournament chair.

“We’ve seen steady growth in support since renaming the tournament,” said North Little Rock District Judge Paula Juels Jones, a longtime board member. “This year, our goal was $40,000, and early signs are very promising.”

The Wildcat Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, supports academics, athletics, and student activities at North Little Rock High School. “I’m especially proud that we ensure every NLRHS student selected for Girls State or Boys State can attend,” said Juels Jones. “We’ve also helped fund tech-driven programs like the EAST Initiative, and even brought new life to Friday nights with a Wildcat tunnel and two new mascot costumes.”

This year’s event dodged early morning rain and lightning to complete a full round of play, with NLR coaches and athletes on hand to thank supporters in person. “It was great for supporters to see the impact of their donations—and a great lesson for our students in how to engage with their community,” she said.

The Foundation runs year-round initiatives, including reserved stadium seat sales and a popular Trivia Night coming this October. Donations are welcome at thewildcatfoundation.com.

“This really is my favorite volunteer job,” Juels Jones added. “To see the results has been amazing.”
