Local News Outlet Launches in North Little Rock

Official ‘got tired of waiting’

by Dogtown Daily Staff

A new digital news organization focused exclusively on North Little Rock launched Friday morning, aiming to restore consistent, community-centered journalism to the city.

According to its website, Dogtown Daily will deliver a free weekly newsletter every Wednesday at 6 a.m., with an option for paid subscribers to receive daily weekday editions for $5 per month. The email-based publication plans to cover general city news, public safety trends, local events, breaking news, and cultural notes—specifically curated for North Little Rock residents.

The project was created by longtime city official Nathan Hamilton, who currently serves on the North Little Rock City Council and previously worked for a decade in the mayor’s office. Hamilton said the idea emerged from his growing frustration with the decline of traditional local news coverage in the city.

“I’ve spent 15 years with a front-row seat watching local news get decimated and seeing the actual harm that’s caused North Little Rock,” Hamilton said. “I kept waiting for someone to fix it. Eventually, I got tired of waiting.”

When asked whether his role as an elected official could create a conflict of interest, Hamilton acknowledged the concern and said transparency and public feedback will be key.

“It certainly could, and that’s something I’m going to work hard to avoid,” he said. “I’m being up front about who’s behind this—I want people to know where their news is coming from. I encourage anyone who sees personal bias or an agenda in the reporting to write in. Comment on the story. Send a letter to the editor. I’d love to run it as part of the newsletter. Help keep me in line.”

According to Hamilton, Dogtown Daily will aim for a digestible, accessible format while avoiding sensationalism or national political framing. He said early issues will include breakdowns of the upcoming school millage vote, trend analysis of local crime reports, infrastructure project updates, and summaries of City Council actions that have often gone unreported.

Longer versions of selected stories and deeper dives will be available on the website for subscribers.
